Hi,
I am studying the scripts from RenZO (http://imaginux.com/), especially
the ones called Road to ubuntu (RTU).
The concept sounds clean and easy :
You download the necessary packages (lang-packs, .deb packages etc.) and
do not install them.
You include them in different folders
You have a main script using Zenity that provides you with a choice of
installation (multimedia, lang packs, Codecs etc) that is calling
secondary scripts which will install the desired packages like if you
would have done under the terminal (sudo dpkg -i package_name.deb).
Editing the main scripts and adding Vietnamese is easy.
Doing so, we can have custom-made packages (as tar.gz) that can actually
automate the installation process (lang vi, other langpacks if needed,
restricted packages, macromedia flash, realplayer, etc.) without
downloading from the internet, like we would need to do from a 7.04 live
cd desktop install in English.
We can distribute these meta-packages either as downloads or as CDs.
The main advantage, IMHO, compared to an addon CD is that the staring
menu (with zenity) is very cool (like in EayUbuntu and Automatix) and
very accessible for newbies.
The Addon CD is also a good feature and relatively simple to be done but
it needs more 'complex' work from the newbie, like editing source
softwares etc.
I'm actualling working on the meta-packages to reproduce the
installation procedure for a Vietnamized Ubuntu.
Regards
